Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal started placing the national budget for 2021-22 fiscal year on Thursday afternoon aiming to expedite its efforts to save the lives and livelihoods of people.
He started placing the budget in the Jatiya Sangsad for the next fiscal a couple of minutes after 3:00pm. Leader of the JS and prime minister Sheikh Hasina along with a number of selected lawmakers, invited by the concerned whips of the JS, joined the event .
Earlier in the day, the cabinet approved the proposed national budget for the fiscal year 2021-22 in a special meeting presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
This is the 50th national budget of the country coinciding with the golden jubilee of the country’s independence while the 13th in a row for the Awami League government.
With the theme “Jiban O Jibikar Pradhanno, Agamir Bangladesh”, the incumbent finance minister is placing his 3rd straight budget.
The size of the national budget for FY 22 is likely to be Tk 6,03,681 crore which is 6.28 percent or Tk 35,681 crore higher than the original budget size of the current fiscal year which was Tk 5,68,000 crore.
Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal started presenting the national budget in the JS with a focus on health, agriculture, social safety nets and job creation.
He began rolling out the Tk 603,681 crore budget outlining measures to save lives and create more jobs so that people can cope with the fallout of Covid-19 pandemic
