The 32nd span of the Padma Bridge was installed today, bringing a total of 4,800 kilometres of the structure into view.
The span was installed on the fourth and fifth pillars at Mawa end in Munshiganj around 9:30am, said Executive Engineer of the project Dewan Md Abdul Kader.
The authorities tried to install the span yesterday but they failed to fix it due to strong current in the river and difficulties in anchoring the crane carrying the span, our Munshiganj correspondent reports quoting the engineer.
The authorities have a plan to install two more spans this month, while the rest nine will be fixed by December, he said.
The 6.15km-long bridge will have a total of 41 spans.
