A total of eighteen people died so far till Saturday evening among the severely burnt in Friday’s blast in a mosque in Fatullah of Narayanganj.
They succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
The deceased were identified as Rasel (30), Kanchan Howlader (40), Nayan (27), Rashed (30), Rifat (18), Mostafa Kamal (34), Zubair (18), Sabbir (21), Kuddus Bepari (72), Delwar Hossain (48), Zunayed (17), Humayun Kabir (70), Ibrahim (43), Jamal (40), Joynal (38) and Mainuddin (12).
Dr Samanta Lal Sen, coordinator of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), confirmed the information.
Some 37 people were admitted to the hospital after the blasts of seven air conditioners at the mosque, he earlier said.
Eighteen of the injured died till this evening, Dr Samanta added.
Locals said the incident took place when the devotees had just finished Esha prayers around 8:45 pm at Baitus Salam Mosque in Fatullah, Narayanganj on Friday night.
An air conditioner went off and sparked a fire inside the mosque. Later, the remaining six ACs exploded there, leaving some 40 devotees injured, they added.
